BioChar

The harvest
after the harvest.

Every LatAm plant leaves the reactor with two products: the energy your line runs on, and a porous carbon that can stay stable in soil for centuries.

● What we have done

Residue in. Carbon out.

What goes into the reactor as residue leaves as stable carbon, measured the same way at our reference plant. Laboratory figures will be published here as each report is certified.

● Proof of concept

AgriChar.

Charcoal for the grill, made without cutting a single tree.

Our biochar already sells as a consumer product. AgriChar briquettes are made from coconut shells, carbonized in our reactors while the gas powers the plant. Much of the charcoal sold for barbecue in the Caribbean still comes from forests cut illegally; AgriChar is the alternative, by the bag.

  • From residueCoconut shells that used to be a disposal cost.
  • For the grillSold by the bag, for home and restaurant grills.
  • For the forestEvery sack replaces charcoal that cost a tree.

● On the shelf

Plant-in-a-box.

Biochar is already an ingredient in retail products. One example: a home-garden kit sold to households, ready to plant on a windowsill.

Kit label listing organic seeds, nutrient-rich substrate and biochar
Includes: organic seeds, substrate, biochar

Grow vegetables from a windowsill.

A complete kit: organic seeds, a nutrient-rich substrate and biochar. Sow, add water and watch it grow. Proof that biochar is a marketable ingredient, not only a soil amendment for large farms.

  • Retail readyPackaged and sold to households.
  • One more marketGardening joins fuel, soil and cosmetics.
● What science says

And back to the soil.

Peer-reviewed literature, cited line by line. These are potential benefits of biochar in general, not results from our own product.

Durability

Stable for centuries

Recognized by the IPCC as a way to store carbon in soils.

IPCC 2019 Refinement, Vol. 4, Appendix 4

Water

More water held in the soil

Can improve the water a soil holds, most of all in coarse, sandy soils.

Razzaghi et al., Geoderma, 2020 (meta-analysis)

Emissions

Less N₂O from fertilized fields

Can reduce nitrous oxide, a potent greenhouse gas, from fertilized soils.

Cayuela et al., Agriculture, Ecosystems and Environment, 2014 (meta-analysis)

Refined further

From the field to the formula.

The same carbon, purified to cosmetic grade, becomes an ingredient for skin care formulators through NACOA BioChar.

● Under evaluation

Where biochar can go next.

Uses documented for biochar in general that we are evaluating. No results claimed.

Carbon removal credits

Most durable carbon removal credits delivered worldwide today come from biochar.

Filtration

Porous carbon for water and air treatment.

Animal feed additive

A documented use for biochar in livestock feed.

Ask for a sample, or a feasibility review.

Tell us what you would use biochar for, or send one fuel bill and a line about your residue. We will reply with a sample offer or a first feasibility review, free.
